Colony forming ability of bone marrow cells from patients with acute leukemia.

چکیده
Bone marrow cells from adult patients with acute leukemia were serially cultured using an in vitro agar culture method. Four categories of growth pattern were recognized according to growth characteristics in vitro in previously untreated patients with leukemia. Detailed cytological investigation was performed for the determination of cell morphology and the origin of colonies. In vitro agar culture may be useful for monitoring the remission-relapse status in acute leukemia.

Advances in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Mobilization and Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation
Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) which give rise to different blood cell types are present within the bone marrow microenvironment, especially in flat bones such as skull, vertebrae, pelvis and chest. Interacting factors such as stromal derived factor-1/CXCR4, very late antigen-4/vascular cell adhesion molecule-1, Lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1/ intercellular adhesion molec...
متن کاملAlterations of adiponectin gene expression in bone marrow of acute myeloid leukemia
Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the proliferation of myeloid precursors and abnormal differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells, which results in the accumulation of immature cells in the bone marrow (BM). The accumulation of these cells in the bone marrow causes molecular and cellular changes in the microenvironment of the bone marrow. The adiponectin hormone orig...
متن کاملEffect of daunorubicin drug with and without cimetidine on the nucleated cells of bone marrow of balb/c mouse
Introduction: Hematopoiesis is an on going process mammalian marrow system. A few cells from the nucleated cells of bone marrow are hematopoietic cells which include primary stem cells, precursor cells and progenitor cells. Primary stem cells and progenitor cells are able to produce colonies in culture medium (CFU-C) and irradiated mouse spleen (CFU-S). A hematopoietic cell is alive and act...
متن کاملProperties of the Bone Marrow Stromal Microenvironment in Adult Patients with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia before and After Allogeneic Transplantation of Hematopoietic Stem Cells
The bone marrow stromal microenvironment that regulates normal hematopoiesis suffers during leukemia development and its treatment. In this study, we examined Multipotent Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MMSCs) and fibroblast colony-forming units (CFU-F) derived from the Bone Marrow (BM) of 15 adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) before and after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell t...
متن کاملBiochemical and morphological changes in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells induced by treatment of rats with p-Nonylphenol
Objective(s):In previous investigations, we have shown para-nonylphenol (p-NP) caused significant reduction of proliferation and differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in vitro. In this study, we first treat the rats with p-NP, then carried out the biochemical and morphological studies on MSCs. Materials and Methods: Proliferation property of cells was evaluated with t...
متن کاملIn vitro hematopoiesis following induction chemotherapy for acute leukemia.
The treatment of acute nonlymphocytic leukemia results in predictable bone marrow hypoplasia and eventual cellular repopulation. In order to study this postchemotherapy repopulation, assays for hematopoietic progenitor cells were performed on bone marrow samples obtained from seven patients with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia who had received similar chemotherapeutic induction regimens. Burst-fo...
